30 Days of Yoga

When spring comes it brings with it a sense of renewal. This time of year I tend to (with out thinking) eat better, get more active and just start living a little healthier.  Last April I did a 30 day Yoga challenge and it really got me back into being active everyday. Through the winter I must admit I get a little lazy.  This April I'm going to do it again.

I do this challenge through the site Do You Yoga. The sessions are only 10 to 20 minutes long so they are easy to fit into my schedule. Other great people I have followed for online yoga  are Tara Stiles and  Yoga with Adriene.

To keep accountable I'm going to be snapping my daily progress on Snap Chat. My user name is @fullofthreads.

Interested in taking the challenge with me? Add me on snap chat and send me your snaps.

We Start April 1st!!

35 Life Lessons in 35 Years

As my birthday approaches I always try to focus less on how many new gray hairs I have since my last birthday and more on what I've learned since my last birthday.
After 35 years I don't have life figured out but i have learned a few lessons that make life better.

.
1. Take a moment to enjoy the little things. Ever watch snow fall? You don't know what you're missing.
2. Perfect is an illusion
3. Say what you need to say
4. If you don't need to say it...don't.
5.Don't make a big deal of small matters
6. Broken can still be repaired
7. There is no such thing as the perfect time
8. Learn to enjoy where you are and what you have.
9. Say Yes!
10. Keep your life asshole free.
11. People will remember you based on how you treat them, so act how you want to be remembered.
12. Look people in the eye
13.Be yourself, that is always enough.
14. If you love someone, tell them often
15. Manners take you far in life
16. People only change when they want to change
17. Be Silly
18. The world owes you nothing
19. Teach your children to be good people. The rest will fall into place.
20. Listen
21. Speak out
22. Keep an open mind
23. Always try your best
24. Everyone fails
25. It takes character to try again
26. The most valuable thing you can give someone is your time
27. There is nothing wrong with blind faith
28. Your spirituality is between you and God. The opinions of others have no place in this matter
29. Have a plan
30. Plans fall through, roll with it.
31. Envy is a waste of time.
32. If you want something, ask for it.
33. Like envy, hate is a waste of time.
34. Your life is unique, it is impossible to compare. So don't.
35. In the end Karma will find you.
What lessons have you learned?

Memory Lane Monday: Meme's Quilt

Who: My Mom, Julie. Doesn't she have a beautiful smile?

When: Christmas 2008

Where: Mom and Dad's House

What: My Meme (my Momma's Mother) passed away and I was given a quilt top she had made when she was 9 years old. It was hand stitched together from what I'm sure was just scrap fabric. This would have been made around 1922. I took the quilt top and finished it for my Mom for Christmas. It was a very personal project for me. I could see every little stitch she made by hand. Working on this made me miss her so much but I felt so close to her finishing what she had started.

Memory Lane Monday 16

Who: Evan

When: Spring 2009

Where: Greenway, Ontario

What: I could not help but put Evan in his little bathrobe. He didn't keep it on very long and never wore it again but it made for such a cute little picture of my man child.

Add A Little Embroidery to Your Thrifting

I love thrifting. Not only do I love getting a good deal but I love the hunt. Searching through, sometimes piles of crap to find those little treasures. I'm not a big shopper. I actually hate shopping. Its the looking at a rack of identical clothes. I can't help but feel I am one of many to buy that shirt. Its not that my style is very unique but  I don't get excited for the purchase..Now thrifting...that is another story.

The thing I love is the possibilities. I'm a seamstress. The garment I may purchase may not be perfect but I have the ability to make it perfect. It may be too big but I like the fabric or I may not like the length or the collar but I can change that. I enjoy taking something and making it uniquely mine.
That is how I made one of my fabric pieces..

I bought a Black Denver Hayes Jacket that was in perfect condition for 5 dollars at one of my local thrift stores and added some embroidery to the back. Its not a unique shape or style but adding those little touches has made it into a one of a kind piece and something  I have had many many compliments on.

When you out at your local thrift store, keep your eyes open and your creativity flowing. You could stumble onto a  gem.

Memory Lane Monday 15

Who: Jake

When: Halloween 2009

Where: Greenway, Ontario

What: Jake is the great pumpkin carver. He always has the greatest designs and carves 3 or 4 a year for our house. Here he is with his large carving knife getting ready to make some magic. While he may be great at carving, cleaning them out always falls to me. And of course we keep those pumpkin seeds for roasting.

Memory Lane Monday 14

Who: Jake and Evan

When: Summer 2009

Where: Pinery Provincial Park

What: Jake was showing Evan all of the little fish that were swimming dear the dock. We spent a lot of time at the Pinery. We lived not a 10 minute drive and we hiked there at least 4 days a week. I have always loved this picture.

No Vlogging Today

The best part about vlogging is having all of these memories on camera. Yes I am presenting them to the public but they are forever out there for us to enjoy. The kids love to watch them....I have actually gone back to watch them. The kids have grown so much since that first vlog in May.

That being said it is nice to have some time together where I don't have a camera in someones face. It was a beautiful Saturday, and after all this snow I was just dying to get out of the house. Actually, I was dying to get out of town. The kids and I went to Goderich for the afternoon. We drove around, did some shopping, had dinner together and I didn't vlog any of it. Sometimes its nice to just enjoy the moment. See it through my eyes instead of the camera lens.

In reality I just share a snippet of our week, but I am always trying to capture the times we are out and as many events from the week as I can. It was nice to keep my camera in my purse and spend the day chatting with my kids.

P.S. During dinner my son looked at me with a big smile and said, "Thank you so much for taking us out today, Mom. I've had a really good day."  That was a  #proudmom #heartmelting moment.
